Back when you could light a dart in a restaurant, and all beers came in a can, no one was capturing Australian life quite like legendary photographer Rennie Ellis.
Ellis saw his photographic excursions as a series of encounters with other people’s lives. His photos can be as straightforward and blatant as a head-butt or infused with enigmatic subtleties that draw on the nuance of gesture and the significance of ritual. His photographs have been widely exhibited in Australia and overseas and his work has been acquired by various collections.
The dudes at Pass~Port have teamed up with the estate of Rennie Ellis to launch the collaborative Rennie Ellis x Passport – Decade and Decadent Exhibition. It is at this launch you will be able to feast your grubby eyes on some of the late Rennie’s work, as well as maybe peep the limited edition collaborative range of limited edition skate decks and apparel. Heck, enjoy an ice-cold Budweiser while you are at it.
Pass~Port & Rennie Ellis Archive Skateboard & Apparel Launch – Thursday 19th November, The Good Copy, 19-21 Johnston St, Collingwood.
