Summer is upon on us and you know what that means? Bikinis. Lots and lots of bikinis. Everybody loves bikinis. I love bikinis, my dog loves bikinis, the Nun at my Sunday School loves bikinis. Shit, even Ray Charles once told me he loves bikinis and he can’t even see the damn things.
Here are some facts you may or may not know about Bikinis:
- The modern bikini was popularised by my boy, French engineer Louis Reard in Paris in 1946 when he got tired of watching all the French dames swimming in the canals wearing potato sacks.
- In the 50’s many western countries banned bikinis from their beaches and public places when the Vatican declared it sinful to wear a bikini. These Countries no longer exist and Pope John XXIII resigned shortly after making this unseemly statement because of all the death threats he received (including threats from both the Virgin Mary & GOD himself).
- A man’s brief swimsuit may also be referred to as a bikini, so feel fee to say “nice bikini” to men who wear budgie smugglers.
The team at Surf Dive ‘N’ Ski definitely love a bikini, as seen in their twenty fifteen swim campaign – Marina Parade. You can check out the cheeky little edit and a few exclusive stills from the campaign below.
Bless the bikini.
