BOOLEAN VALUES
An Exhibition of New Works by Jonathan Zawada

OPENING NIGHT
THURSDAY 14th FEBRUARY 6PM

15th FEBRUARY ~ 15th MARCH 2008

Jonathan Zawada is a Sydney based artist who uses his talents as a graphic designer to survive. He was born in 1981
in Perth, Australia and spent his childhood in Perth, Melbourne and finally settling in Sydney. He works as a graphic
designer for many music, art and fashion clients, such as Ksubi, Modular Records, The Presets, Tina Kalivas,
The Penrith Regional Art Gallery and Coca Cola. These jobs have included website design, illustrations, fabric prints,
art direction of photo shoots, book and magazine art direction.

In 2001, as part of creative agency The Revolution, Jonathan was invited to produce an interactive art piece for the
inaugural Valencia Bienal. In the same year the agency's website was added to a Berlin museum's archive of the best
in online design and art.

In September of 2005 Jonathan exhibited his first solo show at Sydney gallery Monster Children. The show 'Semantic Webs'
centerpiece was an 5 meter long pencil drawing figuratively illustrating the concept of programming for the understanding
of human knowledge by computers.

The works being completed for the 'Boolean Values' show continue to look at how digital technologies effect and shape
the human perception of the world, particularly focusing on the universality of experience on offer and over-saturation
of information available. They look at what unique attributes digital communication as a figurative entity passively adds
to information through transmission and how that in turn shapes the human ideal of itself in its environment.
